Pros

- Free Lunch on Tuesdays during company meetings - Employees there are very friendly and want you to succeed BUT READ THE CONS!!

Cons

I'm sharing this in hopes of saving fellow top talent from wasting their time with this company. Although there are some incredibly smart individuals at this company, there is one downside: the CEO. I encourage everyone to read the bad reviews for this company. Keep in mind, these reviews are 4 years ago, 4 YEARS. You can probably guess what I'm about to say: nothing has changed. The CEO is very good at convincing you to believe in the product (I mean, he's worked on it for over 5 years already..). During your initial interview, he will seem very passionate about the product and really sell it to you, but do not buy this. This is just a facade and his true colors will be revealed once you join. You'll see that there is actually no direction, no go to market strategy, just build features upon endless features until the app is bloated. And once the app becomes bloated? The CEO will start blaming some of the sr. engineers wondering why the product is going nowhere, will keep saying the product doesn't work and starts blaming the technology when he was the one requesting all these features. You can try to have a debate with him and end up nowhere. He has a firm belief that when a technology does not work, if you refactor it to hell, you'll somehow end up with the right thing. At the end of the day, this CEO will micromanage you to death because if he can't understand what you're doing, he will assume you're a bad employee and start blaming you along with the technology. They have a great product, a really unique idea, unfortunately it is run by someone who doesn't know how to sell it to the market (look up a company called 'oodrive' and you'll see what I mean). Again, I can't stress this enough, READ the previous reviews from 4 years ago. To my horror, they all became true and as the saying goes: old habits die hard.

Pros

We have a flat organizational structure, with no actual management or substantive layers to the critical decision making. If you have good ideas that stand on sound principles AND you are able to articulate why it's the best idea to solve the problem at hand, then the idea will move forward. This requires context, passion and confidence to develop and fight for an idea. It may take time for an Oxygeneer to get to this point. It may take a couple of weeks or a couple months. I've seen it happen at all stages, to different folks, junior and senior. It depends on the Oxygeneer's personal velocity (i.e. goals, motivation, effort, inspiration). I write this partly to address some of the negative comments in other reviews here about a supposed "inner circle". There is no such thing. I am probably one of those perceived to be in the inner circle. But believe me, I have days when I feel I am not in the "inner circle." It's all about your own personal confidence; it has zero to do with company politics. It's about having the right ideas, and making a case for them. They will be heard, though not always adopted. Resiliency is important in life, and essential at a start-up. Keep on swinging; victory is inevitable. And that's the way it should be. You can make a difference from day one regardless of your stated functional role. It's a pure idea-ocracy.

Cons

In my opinion, the company is suffering from its own successes. We have profitable products and have a very comfortable office environment. We are innovating at the bleeding edge but not executing at the break neck pace that is required to help our more recent product breakthrough reach its full potential. The potential here is market domination. We need to get back to start up intensity and mindset. We are working on this and will get there.
