Poor Pay for Decent Experience - Scientist PPD Employee Review

Pros

They’ll accept anyone. You don’t need a science degree to work here. Put in a fair amount of effort getting people trained

Cons

There’s no emphasis on doing anything “scientific”. It’s all profit based. The pay is low for comparable positions. You can design experiments/methods in the method development/validation department and get told they’re “too scientific” because the QA department doesn’t understand them. No work/life balance. Promotions are only based on tenure, not performance. You’ll perform at two levels above your position just for a 3% raise at the end of the year and no promotion.

Pros

Provided health insurance. Good coworkers Good exposure to team at client site If you have a good technical lead, the job can be great!

Cons

You have 2 bosses (Technical lead from Client Site) and your PPD boss. PPD Boss does not know what is going on If you have a bad technical lead, your life can be miserable. Pay is low No protection from abusive technical lead (coworkers on same team can have a drastically different experience)
