Pros
Being at the table is critical. Company supports legacy people within as a priority most of the time. There are some great, caring people that have bigger purpose and see opportunities, unfortunately those are not the people in leadership.
Cons
Getting to the table generally requires being of the right number of years, gender, age and ethnicity. Support is superficial for diverse candidates, and pay and opportunities favor young males. The company prioritizes tracking data over making practical, moral and necessary steps to lead innovations and changes in the spaces they dominate. Risk taking is unheard of. Very clicky at the top. The best people are often disillusioned and leave. If they stay, they self-limit their growth, move to positions of less impact and decision making power, or move up without support and ability to make changes and typically leave. Women in leadership positions with vision have been pushed out.
