Pros

Close to public transit and good location

Cons

Hello, I worked for PYA for a short period and it was an extremely unpleasant experience. I worked with the father and daughter as their executive and personal assistant. After the interview process I was offered full time employment with PYA. Having worked in the corporate world for over 10 years I thought this would be a nice change to work for a small company where the opportunity for growth and recognition and moving up the ladder would be easier. I was in for rude awakening when I accepted the offer I was told by the recruiter that my employment agreement would be given to me on my first day of work. At this time I had already resigned from my current role. This seemed strange to me but I know it’s a smaller company so processes could be a bit slower, so I kept an open mind. My first day I went in and was greeted by a woman who works there. She took me to my office which was not cleaned and gave me a very small laptop and a makeshift book. After that we walked around the office and she introduced me as the new assistant. I was told by the lady to read the book and try to retain as much of the information as possible as the owner will be coming in and I will need to organize his upcoming trips. I was very disappointed that on my first day I didn’t have anything to work with and my workspace was cold and dirty. I kept my winger coat on all day. The father (President of the company) walked in about 2 hours later and didn’t even say good morning, he went on to shouting at the staff and pacing up and down the corridors. The daughter came in and was very polite she said good morning and asked if I had needed things to work with. I told her that expected to have my desk ready but she said this is the place that you need to ask for what you want and that I needed to give her a list of items I need to work. I was in shock when she said this to me and couldn’t believe I had accepted to work at a place like this. She told me that the lap top is small because my predecessor had preferred a small laptop to carry around in her purse and that I should use my personal phone for work matters and the company will reimburse my phone bills. In the interviews process it was put to me that I would be given a company phone and computer. I asked about my contract and the daughter assured that I would have my contract by the end of the day but I never received it until a week later. I contacted the recruiter to ask her why wasn’t I given my contract and she didn’t have an answer but she offered to follow up with the daughter. There are so many things that I should say but I would have to write a book. This place is filthy and unfit for any decent professional. I wouldn’t recommend this a good place to work and thrive.
