Pros
Everyone I've worked with at Paciolan has been great. Super friendly, no office politics or backstabbing, extremely understanding when it comes to personal issues that might get in the way of work for a time. Theres an ethos of taking responsibility for things, even if they don't turn out so good, but instead punishing people they try to learn from the experience and move forward, better than before. There is a lot of legacy cruft on the tech side of things, but most of those applications are in maintenance so there's not much time spent on new development on the old systems. Teams are small, integrated, and free to make tech choices that best fit the use cases, within reason. Very good work/life balance, in my experience, very rarely will I work after hours or more than 40 hours/week. Still mostly remote at this time, but the office will be opening up soon so that may change for some employees.
Cons
There have been some poor tech choices made in the past, along with those legacy systems that are still needed to provide data to the more modern ones, and for the time being that's just something you'll have to live with, but they're making great headway in turning this around. In just a couple years we've gone from a monolithic platform using some fairly restrictive frameworks to a whole host of cloud and on-prem microservices, serverless apps, API gateways, etc., with more innovation on the way. Compensation is fair, especially when you consider work/life balance and PTO offered, but no 401(k) match and salaries are decent but not great. For me it's worth taking home a little less, if I can work with people I like and not kill myself with stress.
