Pros

The organizations supports a group of people that need it.

Cons

Absolutely horrible pay. Only real benefit was a HDHP insurance plan that took 3 months to start (did not even offer an HSA.) Very little vacation time, no 401k or 403b, etc. All long-time employees (including leadership) were close friends making it hard to have normal coworker relationships. Board members are related to staff (how is this even allowed?) Always being told to do jobs not in your description and not being able to complete your own work and get in trouble for it. Even though you weren't paid enough to work full time let alone overtime (salary pay.) Too many cons to list. Horrible

Pay, Benefits, and Workweek: At the time you are referencing, we operated on a 30-hour salaried workweek with competitive pay. Our compensation structure was communicated at the hiring stage, with no deviations beyond set hours. Benefits include a stocked employee fridge, espresso machine, gas reimbursement for work sites, flexible schedules, paid holidays (including an extended Christmas break), a Christmas bonus, and travel-related benefits. Additionally, we give preference to veterans in hiring and facilitate their VA Benefits claims during paid hours. Team Dynamics: Our team, being fewer than 5 members, naturally forms close relationships. We value diversity and believe that varied perspectives enrich our environment. Your concerns regarding relationships are noted, and we always aim for transparency and equal opportunities for all team members. Job Roles and Responsibilities: While roles have clear expectations from the outset, we recognize that in dynamic environments, responsibilities can evolve. We promote open dialogue between employees and supervisors to ensure clarity in roles and expectations. Board Members: We comply with relevant laws and regulations concerning board governance. The presence of related members on staff and the board is typical in non-profits, and we manage any potential conflicts of interest appropriately.
