Pros
Most of the people on the shop floor were delightful to work with and very helpful. The managers, on the whole, were also very good. The work was never dull and the working environment was second to none.
Cons
Communication between departments and some senior staff was diabolical. Favouritism was rife. The only way to 'earn' a promotion was to have a face that fits. Regardless of how brainy, ambitious or hard-working you were, unless you were part of the Golden Circle, forget it. 'Old Wood' (useless people with nothing to do) were carried for many years whilst doing absolutely nothing and getting away with it. Double standards meant that hard working people like myself were pushed hard to make up for these clowns. Some special people received special privileges whilst other missed out. The pay was lagging behind other similar companies. The Danaher takeover ruined worker morale. What was once a cheerful and enjoyable workplace became a miserable place with an uncertainty about how long we would have a job. These problems and more are the reason I chose to resign whilst all was still well.
