Pros

The team itself were lovely

Cons

The work culture was toxic, we’d get texts to our personal phones from managers as late as 3am. Sales were always allowed to dictate the editorial, constantly criticising writers for publishing real news instead of sales heavy content.

Pros

Pan European Networks is an amazing company that goes above and beyond to look after you, especially when it comes to family matters. The managment was always very respectful and made me feel looked after as a person. Many times they committed to things that they wouldn't need to do and there are not many companies in the uk who have such a high standard of care for their employees. The staff includng managment is a wonderful group of different, very likeable people that I really miss. All in all a great company that should be an example of an approach very different to most workplaces in the uk.

Cons

Unfortunately the covid 19 situation led to a few people having to go on furlough which led to the end of their employment which cant be considered a fault on their side

Pros

I made some decent friends - other than that, there was nothing positive about my experience

Cons

There is a culture of sexism, racism and blatant homophobia - actual derogatory terms flung about like they're nothing. It is not what you expect from a white collar office dealing in publishing. The salaries are shockingly low - virtually minimum wage for some quite highly qualified people. The management is lacking. Managers spend too much time focusing on themselves or failing employees to properly acknowledge the ones doing a good job. Employees who are terrible at their jobs just get away with it. There are obvious tensions between heads of different departments. Friends of the MD get away with whatever they want - they essentially run the office. There is no room for progression because the company is so small.
