Pros

Weekly trivia and bingo were a fun perk. Office "creature comforts" like standing desks for all and fancy coffee machines. A decent number of women in management.

Cons

Compensation was well below the market and based on if management "liked" you over if you were competent. Pressure to accept a part-time role when interviewed for a full-time role. It takes 90 days for health benefits to kick in for full-time employees. Short-term disability is not covered by the employer. Pressure to participate in the Dave Ramsey program. A very weird evangelical Christian under currant to everything which made many employees uncomfortable, and included an odd weekly email from Sam Dawson. Pressure to donate your own earnings to the Pape-Dawson Foundation. In-fighting between departments and management, as well as the main office in San Antonio and other locations.

Thank you for providing feedback on your experience. We are relentlessly focused on being the employer of choice in the industry. From your feedback, it seems we fell short of this goal in some areas during your time with us. Over the years, we have made a number of enhancements to our compensation and benefits offerings to best support our employees and their families. We are proud to offer highly competitive compensation for our employees that is validated regularly with the market. We provide a robust suite of benefits for our employees including medical, dental and vision coverage that becomes effective on the 1st of the month following an employee’s start date with the company. Employees are also provided with company-paid life insurance and long-term disability insurance, along with a very competitively priced voluntary short-term disability insurance option. Our generous PTO benefits allow employees ample time off for personal needs including vacation time, personal time, and sick/medical leave throughout the year, with opportunity to cash out or roll over unused hours each year so that accrued PTO time is never forfeited. Finally, our 401(k) plan offers a fully vested quarterly company contribution for employees in addition to a competitive employer match, and includes a suite of Financial Wellness resources that are available for employee participation on a voluntary basis. Pape-Dawson Engineers offers career opportunities for both full-time and part-time work; however, the majority of our positions are full-time roles. We understand that Pape-Dawson’s corporate culture is not a fit for all individuals. We prioritize faith, family, and community. Our company leadership has remained focused on being good corporate partners in the communities where we live and work, and our employee-led Pape-Dawson Charitable Foundation works tirelessly to provide generous support within our communities through donations of our time, talent and treasure throughout the year. Employees are invited to participate on a voluntary basis in our community service efforts, and we are proud of the level of participation that our employees willingly donate toward these endeavors. We make continuous efforts to ensure Pape-Dawson is a great place to work, and feedback from employees helps us accomplish that goal. Thank you for your time.
