Pros

Never intended to write a review about Paper Owl, but after seeing some negative comments on here I had to give my experience. Fantastic people, open and honest communication, support inside and outside of work, genuine interest and investment into their staff. I came from a previous employer that had very poor management, and this is clearly not the case at Paper Owl. Everyday I work closely with senior and junior employees and everyone is very friendly and approachable. I really can't see myself ever leaving. The support and relationships in day to day tasks are so genuine and heartfelt. There is no place for egos or agendas. It's really one big team banding together to get something done and celebrating small and big wins along the way. Whilst I can understand that not everyone's experience may be as positive as my own, I really cannot fault the way Paper Owl have handled different issues that have popped up during my employment. An employer that truly wants to see you succeed, and succeed with them if that is what you wish. They are so good to their staff, whether on a short or long term basis. Highly regarded in the industry, with many freelance animators and artists always keen to return to new projects. I think that alone speaks for itself. Apply, you won't regret it.

Cons

As we work from home currently, perhaps more casual meet ups. Having said that, I think this is definitely in the works.

Pros

Interesting and important projects being produced here by lovely, hard-working people with incredible skills in animation, art and story boarding departments.

Cons

High turnaround of production staff is a red flag from the outset. Extremely poor organisation, communication and accountability from top-down in this company. Already overworked staff are cajoled into working unpaid overtime to try to alleviate their fellow overworked colleagues. Systems in place and highly demanding projects do not allow for work to be completed in any natural work day, resulting in high tension, stress and low morale across the company which builds over time. It’s a high stress work environment and there is little respect or understanding shown for the work-life balance of employees.
