Pros
Never had an issue with time off requests so long as they were effectively communicated, great drink and meal policy, good tips, made some great friends
Cons
Gossipy, exploitive, unprofessional, ridiculous management who do not deserve a single ounce of respect. HR's sole purposeis seemingly to crush anyone who aligns with the union, and management's position is to make sure that the language of the contract is written in such a way that they can override it at any point and get away with cracking down on employees who stand up for their rights, and punishing anyone who criticizes the state of the workplace. Extreme labor cuts, crazy favoritism, shift leads being treated like managers and getting written up for insubordination if they forget a task at close. Policy disrespected and ignored constantly while store managers are protected in all bad behavior because they know that nobody wants to replace them. For a low salary, managers are required to be on call 24/7 and are thus the most exploited workers in the entire company, and are expected to take out their misery on their team. Also a long history of ableism, homophobia, transphobia-- all hidden under the guise of this being a super inclusive cafe with pride flags in the window.
