PayCycle is truly a customer-driven company that takes its mission, vision and values seriously. Decisions get evaluated based on whether they truly move the business. The culture is open, honest, direct, and encourages individual creativity. CEO Jim Heeger provides the experience and perspective to help the team weather challenges and accept course corrections as needed. It is, at the end of the day, an extremely ethical, people-centric culture.

Cracking the small business market is extremely challenging. PayCycle has a strong position in this market, but the real breakthroughs are elusive.

PayCycle has an excellent work / life balance ingrained in its culture. Most people are in around 9AM and out by 6pm. People play sports during lunch, and foosball and ping pong throughout the day. There are fun activities throughout the year. The best is their Halloween celebrations. Crazy elaborate decorations that are super fun. Obviously, the culture and the environment are the best things about the company.

Growth is slowing down. It is unclear whether there will ever be a lucrative exit. As the company has grown bigger, the talent has been watered down at the top levels. Some might argue that people are having too much fun and are too laid back there...at the expense of a more successful business.
