Pros

The money. The commission structure makes it possible to earn an incredible amount. Some offices have good management (this varies greatly from office to office). Some offices also have good teamwork and camaraderie among reps.

Cons

Work-life balance is not a priority of Paycom Sales. Unless you are a person who thrives on working constantly, I would not recommend it. I actually saw an article on LinkedIn today that was posted by Paycom about the benefits of encouraging employees to take all of their PTO. I found this hilarious, because Paycom gives little PTO, and you are certainly not encouraged to take it. In fact, you'll be made to feel guilty every time you want to take some time off. It seems like Paycom promotes high-selling reps to management, without considering other qualities that might make someone a good manager. There ARE some good ones there, but the one I had lacked a lot of leadership skills. There were also a lot of issues getting new customers up and running in the agreed upon timeline. We didn't have a lot of help, which made things difficult with building relationships with new customers. There was also a lot of trouble getting customer references. If there are so many happy customers out there, why was it so difficult to get references when we needed them? There was so much stress that even when I was doing well, I felt like it wasn't nearly enough. My manager stressed us all out constantly. When I wasn't working, I was thinking about work. It started to take over my personal life, and that's when I had to say that enough was enough.

Pros

* Fast learning and professional skill growth. * Great people and strong teams. * Recognized name in the OKC community. * Valuable experience that strengthens future career opportunities, especially in Tech.

Cons

Over the past couple of years, career growth has felt extremely limited. Promotions and meaningful raises have become increasingly rare, and many employees believe these decisions are being driven from the very top. Layoffs and terminations have also become common, creating a constant sense of uncertainty. High performers often take on high-visibility projects with aggressive timelines and limited support. The expectations are unrealistic, and even successful delivery doesn’t usually lead to recognition or advancement. Leadership tends to make decisions very late, creating unnecessary urgency and forcing teams into last-minute scrambles. Benefits have declined, opportunities for advancement have become scarce, and overall morale has suffered significantly. There are talented people here and it can be a good place to gain experience, but I would view it primarily as a stepping stone rather than a long-term destination.
