Pros
I cannot think of a positive thing to say about this time during my one year at Paycor.
Cons
The environment feels set up for failure, making it difficult to thrive. The managers lack payroll experience, which leads to misunderstandings and poor decision-making. For instance, they once pulled me from working on a critical payroll issue to address a non-critical matter for a major client. One manager called me on Zoom without any prior notice, asking me to contact a client who processed a $3 million bonus payroll—of course, requiring a wire transfer. Despite this, the managers kept insisting we try to avoid the wire, which forced me to involve the risk manager, who had to step in and take charge. The company has struggled to retain experienced associates, further highlighting the lack of support and structure.
