Pros

(1) Exceptional Leadership: The SEO Manager balances trust and guidance flawlessly. She embraces fresh ideas, backs your experimentation with real resources, and steps in with coaching only when you need it. (2) People-First Culture: From day one, colleagues are genuinely welcoming and collaborative. Cross-team communication feels seamless, and you always know who to tap for help. (3) Flexible Hours (Even On-Site): Although we’re expected in the office full-time, schedules stay flexible. If your work is delivered and your manager signs off, adjusting start or end times is never an issue. (4) Robust Total Rewards: Benefits go well beyond the statutory baseline—fondo de ahorro, monthly vales de despensa, PTO and sick days from day one (no six-month cliff), a quarterly performance bonus, and several additional perks that add real value. (5) Free Daily Lunch: The company provides daily lunch from a pre-fixed menu at no cost. While I don’t use it, most of my coworkers do and appreciate the convenience.

Cons

(1) Lack of Process for Multi-Team Work: Some departments lack structured task management or tracking frameworks. This makes it harder to coordinate or follow up on multi-team initiatives efficiently, and most of the time, you have to do constant follow-ups or track their updates on your own. (2) Office-Only Policy: Personally, not an issue, but the requirement to be in the office full-time may not suit those looking for hybrid or remote options.

Pros

Free lunch, ping pong, free cursor plan

Cons

Paystand is an exploitative company that takes advantage of young workers, particularly interns. Interns are officially paid for 30 hours per week, but there is strong pressure to work beyond those hours — including nights and weekends — without additional compensation or benefits. Interns are frequently told there is a path to full-time employment, but during a company offsite leadership stated that there were no plans to convert engineering interns in the United States to full-time roles. I personally know multiple interns who worked here for 9+ months with no concrete plan or timeline for conversion. The model appears to be rinse-and-repeat. Compensation for full-time employees is also well below market, especially relative to Bay Area standards. Junior employees could realistically earn more in hourly at restaurant jobs. The pay is extremely uncompetitive and demoralizing. The Product team lacks technical understanding of how software is built, which creates constant friction between them and Engineering. I have personally witnessed senior leadership speak aggressively and unprofessionally — including yelling and cursing — toward interns and juniors. Upper management presents the company as far more successful than it actually is. In reality, Paystand appears stagnant and has made little progress over the past several years. This is not a place to grow your career — it’s a temporary stop at best. If zero stars were an option, that would be my rating.
