Where to even start…. Unpaid wages - this company still has not paid my final wages. They produced a wage slip which was missing holiday pay which they were made aware of and generated a new payslip and they now have not paid the balance. Will be pursuing legal action against them Salaries - these are the absolute minimum you could get in the industry. The only reason they manage to make a lot of the salaries legal is by making the dinner break unpaid even though every member of staff is in the office 45 hours per week. Holidays - again this is the minimum you can receive anywhere and god forbid you decide to use them. Directors will moan and complain if holidays aren’t taken at a time convenient for them. Sick pay - doesn’t exist, and the irony is that if you take too many sick days they threaten to sack you… even though they’re not paying you …. Make it make sense In addition to the lack of sick pay, due to the lack of salary people couldn’t afford to take a day off. Therefore if 1 person falls ill then EVERYONE falls ill. Owners will then stand on the office floor saying things like “come on guys, no pulling sickies” as everyone is dying at their desks. Management - completely unyielding and uncompromising. Pound of flesh mentality. Owners will come and go as they please (which is their right I guess) but employees receive absolutely no flexibility what so ever - unless you’re related. Employees are treat like they are at school with even basic things taken away from them such as being allowed to listen to headphones while doing admin. A rule that was put in place for seemingly no other reason than to make employees miserable. More recently also beginning to stamp down on standard office conversation. Unless management were interested in the subject of course and wanted to partake, then it was fine. Micromanagement - I can’t think of a way people aren’t micromanaged. KPI’s are a standard in recruitment however having daily kick offs with management scrutinising every email and call that was made the day before certainly isn’t. KPI’s also being scrutinised even in cases where they are not applicable to the individual. Staff turnover- absolutely through the roof. For a business that once had 40 people in the office now down to around 10 and it’s not from a lack of hiring. Over the last 12 months the Newcastle office having hired somewhere around 15/20 people and still ending up with less than they started from people leaving.
