Pros
This position was fun and gave me experience with babies and families. You learn a lot about how important it is to screen new-borns and the impact it could have on their lives. The pay "by the hour" wasn't bad considering how easy the job was and you mostly work by yourself. I loved the fact I didn't have anybody breathing over my shoulder. Good temporary job if you want to gain hospital and pediatric experience and you don't need to pay important bills. You also work during business hours.
Cons
No benefits. Lack of communication. At times you can have 1 to 5 locations you need to travel to in order to perform the test. Gas reimbursement is a joke. My first mileage check was given 4 months after employment only because my coordinator stayed on the company. (I only got mileage for 2 months) Even though you get paid pretty good by the hour, you only work a couple of hours because your pay is dependent on how long it takes you to screen the babies. There are days no babies are born and you get paid the minimum $20. Not many opportunities for job advancement.
