Pros

Brand recognition. Lots of autonomy throughout each day to perform duties. Owner is friendly with a good attitude. They do make an effort throughout the year to provide light-hearted gatherings, ie: company sponsored lunches, bowling (in a good economy), etc. Not the worst place in the world but with many limitations.

Cons

Management top heavy, CRM, Leadership, Big-Bros is "mother" Pella. 3 years ago this local distributor had 100 employees w/7 managers. Today there are 30 employees with 6 Sales managers are ego hungry; one loves to take on every task possible related to spreadsheets & CRM but is clueless in terms of sales leadership therefore ineffective. Management has no idea the daily task involved and time req'd to complete daily tasks o/s of selling. CRM management easily becomes an overwhelming time suck of non-revenue generating tasks- all in the name of tracking by mother Pella (the corporate arm of this franchise type business model). Mother Pella has become so process oriented - one size fits all geographic areas, consequently taking their eye off the ball - customer focus. It's a sales oriented organization but the focus has become CRM, the ultimate form of job security for managers.

Pros

Great product, hours were good, and good culture overall. I worked there for well over 10 years and was very sad to leave.

Cons

The Birmingham branch went through several owners during my long tenure with the company. Each owner had its pros and cons. Eventually Birmingham was bought out by the corporate office. The company constantly changing owners gave alot of anxiety and employees were often left feeling a lack of stability. There is not alot of room for growth and the starting pay is not the best, unless you are in Trade sales.
