Pros

Fantastic culture at the field office level. Great people to work with and experts in life insurance matters. Regional Office leadership is competent and visionary.

Cons

Many decisions come from the top down with a home office leadership that is unsure of what it is doing and appears to be squeezing the field offices for money and resources. My former colleagues recently had their incentive compensation heavily cut and I was told after I resigned that I would have been eligible for a bonus that year (the company decided to not pay out the bonus to me despite almost a decade of service). While the regional offices were the catalyst for the growth of the company for the last 15-20 years Penn appears to be cutting corners. It was a major factor in my decision to leave a field office that I thoroughly enjoyed working at.

Pros

Base salary is standard within the industry and the benefits package is strong. The annual bonus is a genuine differentiator in total compensation. The work itself offered real opportunities to build technical skills, particularly for those in data and analytics roles, with access to projects that should have a meaningful business impact.

Cons

Organizational restructuring has been a recurring theme, creating uncertainty around team stability and long-term role security. Communication from senior leadership during periods of change was inconsistent, making it difficult to plan or feel confident in the direction of the company. Employees may find themselves in limbo when priorities shift at the leadership level.
