This job sucked the life out of me - Environmental Health Service Worker Penn State Health Employee Review

Pros

Your day is mainly independent and self regulated. There are many overtime opportunities.

Cons

Mandatory overtime is overwhelming and hard work is rarely rewarded. Your day off can disappear without replacement if they need people to work. You can work twice as hard as others and only hear negative feedback since there is always more to be done, while those who don't finish their jobs are not held accountable. Its a shame because the job itself is fine. The disorganization and the lack of respect you receive because you're "just a housekeeper" makes this job emotionally destructive.

Pros

Mission-focused Some patients and employees are nice Good benefits

Cons

Crowded and Busy. In the cancer institute the lines for check-in went out the door and it seems like everyone forgets their manners in that place. Very little pay for dealing with so many angry patients
