Pros
The work done here is challenging and rewarding - a chance to deal first hand with sorting through and merging (appropriately) large volumes of publicly available data into a coherent set of tools that people can use to locate others. It is a chance to work with Hadoop and Hive and get involved in the growing field of big data.
Cons
Deadlines and timetables can be over-aggressive at times. But that tends to be true everywhere.
