Pros

- Transparency from founders and exec team, sharing the lows and the highs weekly. Every colleague is approachable, no matter the title. - An incredibly talented team that aims to support each other sincerely - A learning opportunity to see how a well-functioning SaaS business operates from a startup phase to maturing into a leading tech company globally. - Perks are generous, ranging from meal and transport allowance, development budget and access to the Udemy learning platform, all company events in Munich for three days, and many more.

Cons

- Being part of a hyper-growth company means you must consistently deliver strong results, and this expectation might lead to stressful phases if not managed right. - Quality of some management could be better regarding coaching and inspiring. The good point is that these receive upward feedback reviewed by their managers. - Some colleagues with no previous work experience or coming from big-name companies negatively influence in some cases other colleagues with an approach that "the company must satisfy all my desires, and if not I complain badly and loud". This led to the misunderstanding of expectations on what work should be, and I saw cases where negative toxic ones dragged down motivated colleagues.

Pros

Smart collaborative colleagues at the lower IC levels.

Cons

Personio is a dying company. The over-complexity of the company's technical systems is comical. Every attempt to simplify seems to lead to more complexity as things get half migrated and left to rot. Engineering leadership seems clueless and unable to present a clear plan-of-action to get things on track. Principal engineers force engineering time to be spent on silly projects that don't move the needle long-term. There is an overall aversion to taking the time to learn deeply about systems being used. Personio feels like a combination of all of the negatives of both a startup and a mature tech company, with none of the positives. The tech is half assed and duct taped together, but still somehow everything moves at a glacial pace. There is a mass shared delusion at the company that an IPO is in reach. No investor is going to buy this company's junk shares on the open market.
