Pros

Phenom hires some of the best and brightest, most driven people in our industry. Everyone is truly passionate about the business and the product. #NotNormal is the mantra and it’s actively embraced, lots of diversity of thought and no dead weight across any business function. The product is genuinely market leading, constantly innovating and growing to keep pace with changes in the industry - I’ve been in HR Tech for a decade and no one else is developing at the pace of Phenom. 1000 developers at a 1700 person company would strike some as a strange choice but it works, the product never stagnates and the energy and momentum in the company is unmatched. Coworkers are the best I have ever had, it’s always fun and inspiring when we get together as an organisation. Base salary is high and OTE uncapped.

Cons

It’s fast paced, overwhelmingly so sometimes, so much innovation is difficult to keep up with as a sales person. The targets are tough and you won’t be able to hide or coast, it’s still scrappy as a scale-up. There are a lot of internal meetings and a lot of unnecessary systems (though these are actively being consolidated) Not a lot of structured coaching or development, you are autonomous - which I love but if you aren’t a seasoned, tenured sales professional with strong opinions and your own process you may find yourself floundering. As with any sales job, you will put the hours in. Turnover in Sales is high and non performers are churned quickly. Average target attainment for industry but less than sold at interview - around 40-50% of reps make target and bonus structure favours strong performance - if you’re not hitting your number you will not make a massive amount of comms. If you over-perform you will reap the rewards.

Pros

Phenom offers exceptional flexibility with unlimited PTO and minimal micromanagement. The benefits are top-tier, and the free food in the office is a great perk. Overall, it’s a very employee-friendly environment that values autonomy.

Cons

There is a significant lack of direction within the CV team, with constantly shifting priorities and inconsistent delivery cycles. Methods and tools change frequently, and data collection is manual and inconsistent, frustrating both clients and employees. Furthermore, there is a lack of knowledge sharing between teams, which exacerbates inefficiencies. Leadership also lacks a clear vision for the department’s future, and there is no intuitive framework to streamline processes or deliver value more efficiently, creating ongoing friction for the team.
