Pros

* Smart, hardworking coworkers who genuinely try to support each other despite constant organizational chaos. * Fast-paced environment where you will learn quickly simply because you’re forced to wear multiple hats. * Opportunity to gain exposure to enterprise clients and complex implementations. * Some teams and managers do try to shield employees from the dysfunction coming from higher leadership layers.

Cons

Phenom has one of the most psychologically exhausting work cultures I’ve experienced. The company consistently undermines employees while preaching “ownership” and “accountability,” but in practice that accountability only flows downward. Employees are routinely blamed for product failures, roadmap gaps, implementation issues, and client dissatisfaction tied to decisions completely outside their control. Leadership pushes unrealistic timelines, releases unfinished functionality, and then expects customer-facing teams to absorb the fallout while maintaining perfect client satisfaction scores. There is a constant culture of gaslighting: * If clients are unhappy, employees are told they “didn’t position the product correctly.” * If implementation timelines fail, employees are told they “didn’t manage expectations.” * If the platform lacks functionality, employees are expected to “find creative workarounds.” * If employees raise legitimate concerns, leadership reframes the issue as a performance or attitude problem. The message becomes very clear very quickly: no matter what goes wrong, leadership will find a way to make individual contributors feel responsible. Work-life balance is performative at best. Last-minute demands are normalized, including expecting participation in weekend hackathons or high-pressure initiatives with almost no notice. Employees are praised for “flexibility” while boundaries are quietly punished. Cross-functional communication is disorganized, priorities change constantly, and teams are often operating without alignment. Employees spend more time defending themselves internally than actually solving customer problems. What makes the environment especially demoralizing is that many employees genuinely care and work extremely hard, yet are continuously made to feel like they are failing because the organization itself lacks operational maturity, strategic clarity, and accountability at the leadership level. Morale suffers because recognition is inconsistent, feedback is often reactive instead of constructive, and employees are frequently put in impossible situations where success metrics are disconnected from reality.

Pros

Phenom offers exceptional flexibility with unlimited PTO and minimal micromanagement. The benefits are top-tier, and the free food in the office is a great perk. Overall, it’s a very employee-friendly environment that values autonomy.

Cons

There is a significant lack of direction within the CV team, with constantly shifting priorities and inconsistent delivery cycles. Methods and tools change frequently, and data collection is manual and inconsistent, frustrating both clients and employees. Furthermore, there is a lack of knowledge sharing between teams, which exacerbates inefficiencies. Leadership also lacks a clear vision for the department’s future, and there is no intuitive framework to streamline processes or deliver value more efficiently, creating ongoing friction for the team.
