Pros

No experience necessary. Decent pay. Weekly paychecks. Most of your coworkers and management are friendly. Counts as oil & gas experience. Some benefits (company-paid life, AD&D insurance, company-matching 401k).

Cons

This company will hire literally anyone. Don't expect competency or intelligence from your coworkers. Be prepared to deal with rude, crude, discriminatory behavior on a daily basis. Atrocious business ethics. Rather than compete with other companies by encouraging employee growth and delivering a better product experience to their customers, this company instead monopolizes the market, buying out all lesser competitors. Being backed by one of the largest fuel companies (Pilot / Flying J) means they can throw money at their problems rather than deal with them appropriately. Expect to pay out of pocket for additional "benefits". Health, dental, and vision insurance are deducted weekly from each paycheck. Company-matches your 401k contributions 100% for the first 3%, 50% for the next 2% (if you contribute 3%, company contributes 3%. If you contribute 4%, company contributes 3.5%. If you contribute 5%, company contributes 4%). Company-paid life insurance is bare minimum, as is their accidental death and dismemberment insurance. You may elect to pay out of pocket for supplemental life and AD&D insurance; it will be deducted from your pay weekly. No sick days. No vacation days until after you've worked for one full year (then you get 99 hours vacation time, which will expire if you don't use it in the next year). No promotions or raises after first year ($1.00/hour raise after 12 months and that's it) unless you become a lead (which is a $2.00/hour raise). Company doesn't promote from within as it claims. Be prepared for your management team to move up to positions they aren't qualified for and be replaced with unqualified outsiders. You never know when or where you will be working. Schedules get set by team leaders and then management will throw them out the window. Be prepared to never work with a consistent crew or on a consistent shift. You are expected to be available 24/7 to work. You will get calls and texts an hour or less before shift start to come in and work. You are disciplined if you call off within 4 hours of shift start. You will be disciplined if you come to work with a scruffy face. You will be disciplined if you don't wear your safety glasses, apron, goggles, face-shield, and respirator while working. You will be disciplined if there is a fuel spill. You will be disciplined if you are late or miss work from lack of sleep. You will be disciplined if the company is kicked off the site you were working. You will be disciplined if you are injured on site. You will be disciplined if a coworker tells lies about you. You will be disciplined if you forget anything pertaining to your job. You will never be rewarded for doing your job well. Don't expect management to answer your calls and texts when you need them. You will be on your own out in the field.
