Pros

- Excellent work-life balance - Friendly and helpful coworkers - Great place to learn more about and make connections in the advertising industry

Cons

- Disorganized behind the scenes: product/engineering is often left scrambling to put together or maintain features that have been promised by sales/CEO. - Minimal opportunities for growth: your role will remain the same your entire time here - Limited opportunities to both give and receive feedback; the onus should not be on the individual employee to schedule a meeting to discuss performance or raise any concerns

Pros

Not much. The company doesn't really know what it's doing.

Cons

Terrible company. 7 founders in a 20 - 30 people company with a couple old timers. It's a zombie company that breaks even. Do join if you want a year of experience and move on or something, but definitely don't waste your time there for too long.

Let's start with the facts: -our business grew 60% last year, is on pace to do the same and is highly profitable (all of our full-time team participate in a profit share plan) -over 250 clients in 30+ countries delivered over 12,000 ad campaigns using Polar's software last year, adoption has grown 100% YoY -the average tenure for people working at the company is 7.5 years (which is rare for any tech company) I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time at the company. I encourage you to share feedback directly with your future employers if you are unhappy. Kunal Gupta CEO

Pros

- Flowdays (meeting & Slack-light days where people can focus on their work) - Somedays (Fridays are open to either work, professionally develop, or explore other passions away from the desk) - Accomodating for remote work difficulties and freedoms, making it easy for new and existing employees to work in remote settings - Large cohort of interns to make friends with - A great place to learn more about the advertising industry and the various levels of it

Cons

- "Mentors" of interns are more aligned with managers than actual mentors - Internship salary is on the low side - Intern job roles are not well outlined (i.e. not all Sales interns work in Sales, not all engineering interns work in back-end) - Work is based on an open project basis, which is roughly based on the CEO's ideas for what could happen next

Thank you for your review of Polar. I’m glad you enjoy our culture experiments with Flowdays (meeting free days), Somedays (4 day work week), and our work from anywhere set-up. As a previous co-op student myself, I believe greatly in the work co-ops can do and the energy and ideas they bring to the table. This is why we have hired over 300 co-op students in the past 10 years. Our mentorship style at Polar has evolved, and as we bring on more and more new co-ops, the way in which our mentors interact with our co-op students continues to mature. Each term we reevaluate and make changes to better suit the needs of our incoming students. I appreciate your feedback and will keep this in mind as we plan for our next batch of co-ops. I believe there is value in knowing that fellow students are making the same wage as you. We have decided to keep the wage at a level that allows us to give as many students coop opportunities as possible. Students join our company in one of four roles and are given the opportunity to shape their role into whatever they would like it to be. Due to the flexibility students have in their roles, the title they may enter the company with may not accurately reflect the work they do during their term. Kunal Gupta CEO
