Pros

paid qualifications, will pay for your WFH setup, flexible about splitting your day around appointments, only 2 office days per week (for now), nice cafe onsite

Cons

2 months straight of being in office when you first start, WFH setup is not paid for until after you complete probation, lots of people leaving and not enough people being hired back (resulting in serious abuse of the flex-work agreement - constant overtime of minimum 1h daily is expected but not being paid for it), guaranteed time-based progression recently removed. extreme micromanagement re: time/tasks (all logged to the minute), not much progression opportunities past 4-5 years. most of my colleagues spend their little free time applying for jobs elsewhere. actively discouraged from speaking to colleagues in the office. Quarterly town hall meetings normally in Cheltenham office but conveniently the one where they announced we wouldn't receive an annual bonus was held virtually from London...

Pros

I’ve recently received a long service award for 20 years at PoloWorks, which really reflects how positive my experience has been. Throughout my career here, I’ve consistently felt supported and encouraged to develop. I started as an Assistant Technician and have been given genuine opportunities to progress into management, now working as a Technical Manager. PoloWorks is a great place to work if you’re looking for progression, to be listened to, and to feel like your voice matters. There’s a very strong team culture, people support and encourage one another, and collaboration is actively promoted. Over the years, I’ve not only built a career, but also lifelong friendships, which says a lot about the environment and the people.

Cons

As the business continues to grow, keeping recruitment aligned with that growth can be a challenge at times. Ensuring there is sufficient capacity particularly through recruiting experienced staff who can grow with the company is important to maintain balance during busy periods. That said, the company is very aware of this and continues to invest in its people and teams, with a genuine focus on evolving structures and resourcing to support long term growth.
