Pros
I think, for me, what sets Polsinelli apart from any other firm I’ve worked for (3 total) is that management actually takes the time to listen to all employees’ concerns and address them individually, as well as on a company-wide scale (if such a measure is warranted). It’s not as cut-throat as other environments I’ve experienced in this profession. Sure, we’re competitive amongst each other. But we also know how to drop the competition at the end of the day and spend time together. There’s a real sense of camaraderie here that you can’t put a price tag on. And I should know… I was head hunted by another firm who offered me a higher salary, but I turned them down because when I spoke to some of the other attorneys there I just didn’t get the sense that it was a pleasant environment to work in. They all seemed miserable. I’d rather enjoy my job and make slightly less. But that’s just me.
Cons
I think everything I listed in the pros section above could easily be seen as a con by a different kind of person. If all you’re looking for is the firm that will pay you the most money at the expense of almost everything else then maybe you should keep looking.
