Pros

This organization is passionate about its customer's and their success. The company believes that the power of container technology should be available to everyone everywhere and they put their money where their mouth is by making it available for free in the community edition. Software containers are game changing but complex. Removing the complexity and creating datacenter, cloud, on premise and edge freedom from platform lock in are key to the mission. If you like a fast pace you'll like this space in this company. But be ready for accountability.

Cons

Portainer has been downloaded 3.7 billion times. It is loved all over the world. Figuring out how to monetize a large customer population that has gotten used to free software is a challenge - but worth it!

Pros

Cool product with huge user base Lots of user interest and inbound Fun and knowledgeable coworkers from a widely distributed global team

Cons

Employment is through contractor agencies for any non-NZ based employee Leadership is lacking thought leadership and strategy Directionless GTM approach Structure of organization makes no sense, there's multiple CEOs and CTOs Still in a very Product led mentality that is not ready for attaining company ARR goals No job security doesn't exist Gatekeeping and lacking transparency/internal communication Not an open minded environment, leaning towards old school pratices Despite my overwhelming list of cons here, my time at Portainer was good, I just feel there is a lot of room for improved and structure to be built. Portainer is doing well enough to stay afloat during the current rocky economy, which is more than some companies can say right now.

Pros

It's a cool product. The founders are very engaged in the product.

Cons

Lack of on-boarding makes it difficult to get involved in the workflow. Some inter-department gatekeeping.
