Pros

If you're young and don't have a family this job isn't a terrible start. Prestige hires contracts to several locations. I worked at Chrysler and the environment was decent. The pay was relatively good to start off if you are a new graduate and looking for experience.

Cons

The benefits package is HORRIBLE. If you are married and/or have kids expect to pay a lot for your health insurance. Four a family of 3 the health insurance alone was ridiculous- $200 biweekly with a $12,700 deductible that must be paid before insurance will cover anything. After you pay your deductible the insurance covers 50% of in-network related only costs. Talk about a rip off. I wouldn't recommend this job just for the benefits alone if you have any family members that have medical needs. Also, you don't get any paid vacation. What you will get instead is a paid 'bonus' where on your yearly anniversary if you are still working for Prestige you will be paid your vacation. Keep in mind that this 'bonus' pay is taxed heavily and you will actually earn less than you would have if you were able to use those days as vacation days instead. There is no option to use your bonus as vacation days. There are also no paid sick days or paid FMLA . There are a lot of holidays that you will be forced to not work if the company you are contracted out to is closed that Prestige won't pay you for- especially Christmas. For example you won't be allowed to work or draw unemployment during the 2 week Christmas break and will only be paid for 4 of those days. Basically if you don't work because the company is shut down for a holiday or you are sick or want to take any time off for vacation expect to not be paid at all during this time. If you are expecting to get a direct hire try not to be hopeful- if you show up and do an excellent job and are a hard worker you will be passed up time and time again. Most people don't get a direct hire until at LEAST 4-5 years. During this pandemic the people working for Prestige at Chrysler that I know have received a significant paycut and have had their 'bonus' pay cancelled. There was talk that the paycut would stop on Jan 1st 2021 and everyone's 'bonus' would be paid then when it was first announced but the employees have yet to have this confirmed. What is frustrating to many of the workers is that the health insurance benefits and the unpaid time off is unique to this contract house in Chrysler. If you want to work this job title I would suggest finding another contract house with better benefits such as Kyyba or Aerotek.
