Terrible in every aspect - Retail Operative Primark Employee Review

- Little motivation to work hard due to absolutely no praise for your work - Poor treatment from colleagues, including supervisors and managers - Supervisors as well as managers abuse their authority, they often hold little logic within their instructions, for example my supervisor: "I would rather have mess for the customers to see than organised baskets of clothes because it's easier" on telling me to stop tidying when it is my job to. - There is little respect from any members of staff - You are often reprimanded for small errors, for example putting something in the wrong place, when other members of staff spend the majority of their shifts either doing nothing or talking about the last party they went to (or flirting with other members of staff) - Poor organisation regarding information between different departments as well as the store itself - when working in fitting rooms it can be close to impossible to find certain items due to the fact the store is a giant mess - You see how disgusting the operation of the store is - especially in fitting rooms with clothes on the floor, dusty, trodden on and thrown to the side (underwear included) - You see how much of the staff do not do the best for the customers - for example, saying "I'll have a look in the stock room for a different size for you" and don't even bother to look, often returning to the customer saying "no, sorry, this is the last in stock" which is simply untrue, however, this could largely be down to the fact that staff are not properly trained in any way (not told how to use the computer stock checker and till training is rushed) - Managers and supervisors 'favourite' lower members of staff and often flirt with them, overall resulting in unfair treatment - Store is filled with hypocrisy - Incredibly rude customers a lot of the time as with most customer-orientated jobs, however I have found that they are even more common in Primark - Not enough staff given to each department - often finding yourself being told off for not completing work to an exceptional standard when it is very difficult to operate properly when your department is very low on numbers - Barely above minimum wage - Promotions are based on time spent within the store rather than hard work (which goes entirely unnoticed) - Sometimes very racist, homophobic staff - You can forget about 'trying to make a change' by offering positive input to the 'team' - everything goes unheard and nothing changes for the better - No discount apart from at Christmas (10%) - I would say working within Primark more closely resembles being in high school, surrounded by childish people that are not logical, than an organised workplace environment
