Pros
The lifelong friends you make within the workplace.
Cons
This is a long list. They used to promote a work/family life balance - not anymore. This is officially "big corporate", and their employees lives and well being no longer matter - it's all about the company, and what you can do for them despite the low pay they provide. They used to care about their people. Previously, If you had some major issues arise in your life, they would do anything they could to help you and support you through it. - Don't be fooled - they don't care, and will hold it against you. They used to give bonuses - no more. The annual reviews are no longer completed in a timely manner, and they will find any excuse they can to not give you a reasonable raise. They claim to be "salary" so they don't have to pay you overtime, but you're punching a clock every day - so you're actually hourly. After hearing a co-workers story - if you do something wrong, they won't even have an adult conversation with you about it - it's just an automatic write up. This creates a "live in fear" type of culture - creating an overload of mental stress and worry. Don't work here - especially not in this department - the boss could care less about you as a person, doesn't speak to their team in a respectful manner, unwilling to help and provide extra training when asked, and is completely unapproachable despite trying to put up the front of being "completely open". This person has no business at all being in a management position. The micro-managing and constant distrust in the team members to do their job is really pathetic. There is so much favoritism in this department! The culture and rapport in this department is terrible, and all because of the manager.
