Pros
The children sometimes make your day better. You get to bring you child to work. Sometimes free lunch
Cons
There are a LOT of cons. Let’s start off with how rude the leadership team is, as an employee working in child care you should come to work happy and in a good mood, well our leadership team crushes that mood the moment you walk in the door and try to say good morning you get ignored and hardly acknowledged unless a parent is standing near by. There is only one great person that’s part of the leadership team he does his best to make sure everyone is taken care of and let’s you know how much he appreciates you. That means a lot. Every classroom has a Walkie talkie, that’s great right? Well it can be if they worked. Teachers are supposed to call peanut the pony when they have to use the restroom. I’ve witnessed teachers call and our lovely leadership team ignores those calls because they are texting in there phones or just don’t want to be bothered so when a teacher calls again leadership gets annoyed walks right pass your classroom to pull another teacher out there room to let you go to the bathroom. Same thing goes when we call for Percy which means we need there help because a child got hurt and we need a report signed (most common) do they care? Nope they hardly check if the child is even ok and it takes forever to get ice to the point you forget about it. Benefits: those are pretty much non existent. The benefits are not worth paying for. Discounts: we all know when working in child care you get to bring your child and they can pretty much come for free. Well at this location some teachers get free child care some have to pay at a pretty good discount and some pay full price. It all depends on if you are their favorite. Pay: the pay is terrible period. There are teachers that have been there for over 2 years and only gotten a .20 raise. Even if you get your CDA you may get as much as a .49 raise. 90% of us live check to check. Don’t bother ever asking for a raise, the owner (who is there almost every day) will tell you, that’s what you have your parents for or your husband (if married). Turnover rate: extremely high due to the fact that we don’t get treated with respect. They pack so many kids in to one classroom with no help that teaches get stressed. We are constantly being threatened to lose our job over silly things. The worst room in the building is EPS that room is for 2 to 2 1/2 year olds and they currently have 16 on roll with 2 teachers. I don’t even like going to the room to give a potty break. Those poor teachers are so stressed out. They children they have don’t listen because there’s so many it’s hard for them to keep things under control. They have 2 new kids that cry all day, one with Down syndrome, and another who seems Autistic. Regardless of how crazy the room is the teachers put on a great show but on the inside they are unhappy. The Owner: she knows absolutely nothing about her own school. Any questions you have you will need to speak to one of the leadership memebers and the usually never get back to you. All the owner cares about is the money, that’s why she’s in this business. There a lot of things I’ve witnessed but it’s too much to tell. As long as this owner is in place I would NEVER recommend working here.
