Good place for retirement, but lot of politics - Business Analyst Principal Financial Group Employee Review

Pros

1. Compensation, relaxed life, no work pressure 2. Insurance benefits, leave policy 3. Opportunities are given if you ask for it 4. cab facility, awesome office 5. flexible timings, but some people take undue advantage of this. 6. HO counterparts are the best to work with, the best things about the organisation. If will think of staying with the company its mostly because of these amazing people.

Cons

1. Very less room to grow, initial 1 year you get to learn but then its the same stuff. 2. Managers are biased towards some people, it you are in good books of the managers u will move up the ladder otherwise u will be stuck. This is the case with lateral joiners 3. there is no relation between your performance and promotions. 4. 1:1 discussions are so frustrating, if the manager don't get any point to highlight ur shortcomings they will stick some illogical trait of yours as a shortcoming even if it does not negatively impact your work. 5. the experience criteria for a position applies only to laterals and not to trainees. You will find a trainee with 4 yrs work ex as a lead and a lateral will 9 yrs work exp as a lead even though the lateral has a good working capability. 6. Worst part - some people are in the company to settle , and you will be constantly be compared with a fellow colleague who has been in the organisation for a long time. i have never seen such comparisons anywhere. 7. Lots of focus on innovation and very less attention is being paid to business deliveries, if u are not involved in any activity apart from your day to day delivery , according to them u are not working at all, even if u are doing wonders at the delivery side of things.

Pros

Decent work life balance and benefits. Principal offers a pension which is unheard of in today’s age.

Cons

Pay is below average and Principal does not offer inflation raises. Once you hit the midpoint of your salary, you will get a 0% raise until you’re promoted, which will take multiple years regardless of performance. Performance reviews are vague and often used against employees to avoid promotions. At least in my department, I’ve yet to see any of the remote workers be promoted. This is starting to affect attrition and we’re already starting to see people leaving. It’s well known at this point that the best way to get promoted is to leave Principal and get rehired, which even leadership has stated publicly. This is a huge frustration and blow to morale, as it starts to feel like employees need to compete against their co-workers for raises.
