Pros

Potential in Company with Wrong CEO

Cons

I have been in the company for more than 4 yrs previously. One word to describe Kunalan as a CEO is lack of leadership. These points are described by many of the employees n especially ex-employees - inability to lead with a vision. Unable to see farther ahead has left the company stagnant for many years - poor knowledge of changing market as point of view and leadership is confined within decades of experience only in Priority Consultant - lack of communication skills when engaging with internal company staff. Many miscommunication and contradictions due to lack of clarity in his instructions and message communicated - unable to command respect and motivate staff towards common goal and objective leading to uncertainty - insecure of own ability. Having to brag of his ability and sell himself to staff and often it is noticed his incapability and especially those things that he brags falling flat on his face and yet he acts oblivious and blames his staff. In essence he never does wrong and its always someone elses fault even at his instruction things are carried out. Often things are played out with him contradicting himself from his earlier instructions. - poor advocate of staff problems, shallow business acumen and problem solving and lack of ability to lead and resolve company issues amicably which ends most of the time in finger pointing towards staff. - inexperience in width and depth of fast moving market with his decades of experience only in the same company (Priority Consultants) has also led to his inability to find the correct match of staff for their role in the company. This has resulted in many termination and resignation in the company - weak in meeting customers' requirement, poor follow thru and inability to match accurately those requirements. Often he brags of customers not able to do without him, reality check many complains of his lack of follow thru and not meeting brief and SLA - lack of leadership courage - when so many of his endeavours and business initiatives fail, a good leader should step up to the plate and show exactly how it should be done instead of continuing to blame n terminate staff - not of CEO material - he often behaves like a low level manager trying to outdo his own staff, looking to get recognition instead of leading his team - poor marketing of company n more marketing of himself has led the company to be still unknown (despite decades in the industry) due to failure in promoting the company presence in market coupled with atrocious reputation as employer. How many newco and new business endeavour that has failed or did not take off? Summary: In summary, if you hv time to waste and don’t mind being mentored on outdated work methodology and questionable business ideas (don’t even talk about vision as most of his business endeavour either failed or not carried out to completion over the last decades and more) His leadership is one of contradiction and blaming as he is not able to get his team to work as a unit. In addition to this, he likes “Yes Man” around him. While he complains about his “Yes Man” being exactly what they are but they are consistenly promoted. Those who question the viability of his ideas/suggestions or are opinionated, eventually gets terminated. Another good example of his contradiction towards the major shareholder's (Owner of company) core values can be seen in the many terminations and resignations. The core values that the major shareholder exemplify, is continuously and openly overridden and contradicted by him. In my opinion, if this company was ran by a more capable leader, it would have flourished with a vision leading to clear future directions that staff can see and follow and not a 30 year old startup. If the CEO do more leading than blaming and be more accountable for his role as the top dog, he would hv gotten more respect from employees and ex-employees towards common goal. However he is obviously not all a leader nor a CEO capability. Hence revisiting this company in next 10years would not see any difference as Einstein said, “Insanity is when you keep doing the same thing but expect a different results” I left the company after a few years because i could no longer stand the hypocrisy of their preached values when the CEO openly flouts those same values. Simple things that could have improved in operation is not done despite many a times this improvement hv been discussed but not enforced properly. He is good in talking but cant elevate standards much less enforce them. So i hope, this eye opener sharing will help you (the readers/potential employee) make a wiser choice.

Pros

Workload was manageable and rarely required overtime. Remote work setup offers flexibility. Some managers are personally kind and supportive.

Cons

The onboarding process was really long and quite rigid. There was a very structured curriculum we had to follow which, in theory, was supposed to help. In reality, it just took up a lot of time and made it harder to focus on actual work. In my experience, the workflow could also be very inefficient. For example, every media pitch had to be approved by a manager before being sent to journalists. The problem was that approvals could take days, sometimes even weeks, and required multiple follow-ups. Honestly, it felt like constantly begging to be allowed to just do the job. It made hitting KPIs frustrating because the results depended on approvals that were outside my control. At times the management oversight was also a bit much. I was briefly under a manager whose management style felt very micromanaging, which made it hard to even get basic work done. Turnover also seemed quite high during my time there. It wasn’t unusual for someone to suddenly disappear from an account and then you’d later find out they had left the company. It created a lot of instability and extra adjustments for the rest of the team.
