Pros
For the first two years I worked at Prism Software it was a great place to work. Co-workers were friendly, upper management was approachable, and the policy of 'no news is good news' when it came to the employee review cycle suited me just fine. However, into my third year of employment the tone within the company started to change. Lead employees were leaving for better opportunities, my interactions with my manager were suddenly very stressful all of the time, and the building repairs such as fixing the carpet were some of the cheapest and shoddiest building maintenance I had ever seen. Everything indicated that the company was going through a financial strain, and it occurred to me that during my three years at the company I had never received a pay raise. It actually states in the employee handbook that they do not provide cost of living or merit increases. When the pandemic started, employees including myself started working from home. I live in an area where a wildfire threatened the nearby homes and businesses, and my family was forced to evacuate in the middle of the night without warning. I kept my manager up to date with my status during my evacuation, and informed her how I was unable to work that next day due to my lack of wifi access in the hotel we were staying at and limited space for computer setup. Upper management harassed me for most of the following day to come into the office, which was also within the evacuation radius, and work. They had no compassion for my situation with competing crises, one demanding my family stay inside our home and quarantine, and the other demanding we leave our quarantine zone to evacuate a fire. I had never asked for any special accommodations during my years of employment, and the one day I needed their understanding and support, they abandoned me. The next morning my manager called me to find out where my equipment was and then let me go. The company also tried to withhold my last paycheck until they received their equipment. It was such a shame that my experience ended that way.
Cons
I leave this review as a word of warning that Prism is a fair-weather company, great experience if you are new in your career, but don't expect them to promote you, invest in your career growth, or provide any accommodations during your time of need if it at all interferes with the bottom line.
