Pros

Company does do things like paid parental leave and such but took quite a bit of time to iron out all the requirements before they considered it at the HR level. They also have decent benefits and responsive to questions as I onboarded.

Cons

Good luck requesting a monitor or even a work computer. The government will only provide a laptop. If you need a work monitor or any training/certs its on your dime...... goodluck!. They will subsequently ask you to get certified in some certs that might have expired and they will include it as a repayment as your bonus which is purely laughable. When I spoke to the project owner on that, I almost laughed outloud. You are just a consultant that adds time to a timesheet and they need to be able to pay your time. You aren't actually an employee here till you figure that out when the contract ends or when they decide to not need you anymore. You are simply disgarded and asked to leave, fortunately I had been shopping for a new job whilst that was occurring and landed something. Don't let the culture and values statements grab your attention most of them are just professional corporate speak. Ask them how long they have been on the government contract and how long it took them to get X done. They will usually just blame the prior engineer or blame the current ones for not getting certain things done.
