Pros

About 20 percent of the staff are very knowledgeable and care deeply about their clients.

Cons

They are reluctant to add padded rooms because, to directly quote the owner/psychologist, it is "bad optics." Instead of padding walls for the safety of their clients, they would rather restrain clients physically for hours on end. There were days when they've spent entire sessions restraining clients physically. They would release a hold for a split second and reapply the hold almost immediately. The safety coordinator did his best to ensure the holds were safe, however, restricting the movement of already heightened children with sensory issues does not do anything to help the individual, and the owner could not possibly care less. Not to mention the numerous RBTs that are pulled from their clients for hours at a time, yet still bill insurance for the whole session. Dr. Brown presents himself as Mr. Ethics, but in my time working for him, he has never said or done one thing to make me believe he can even define the word. "Autism Farm" would be a more accurate name for the business, but he wouldn't be able to fool people into thinking he is an empathetic, forward-thinking man otherwise. Few BCBAs on staff want to see their clients go off to school and thrive. They do their best to make sure their clients don't make too much progress. "Trauma-informed care" means nothing to this company. The third-ranking person in the company often uses restraint to punish behavior. Pretty awful for a company that claims to be anti-punishment. The worst part is that Dr. Brown is smarter than you, and will outsmart you at every turn. He is a master manipulator. No amount of scathing reviews from former employees or parents of former clients will ever be good enough to take this evil genius down. He is akin to a comic book villain. The difference is, I would first recommend that a parent seek services from Arkim Asylum before sending their kids to "Progressive" ABA Therapy Group.
