Pros
- Weekly free fruit - Some nice guys on the trading floor - Guys in risk are friendly - Good infrastructure
Cons
The other negative reviews are generally true especially the one with the title "waste of time and money" sums it up rather well. - Management is supremely arrogant from the trainers up to the ceo. - Training program offers no value from a money making perspective. It really is a try to figure it out yourself culture. - They do have the attitude where they want you to trade daily and do a lot of volume. - They want you to focus on front end of the yield curve where it seems it would make more sense if they created an automated algo to run instead of having trainees stay in front of the screens for 10 hours daily pretending to do something. My advice is dont bother about getting into prop trading in general or at least in Australia. Nothing worthwhile here. They are selling emotion and hope to the young guys who want to reach models and bottles but in reality the large majority of people will fall short of coming anywhere close to that level. Its a waste of time for the large majority of people. Trading is overtaken by AI more and more as time goes on and only the big players with the computer scientists and math phds who are able to create algos can do well in this space. There are obviously exceptions to this but those are the outliers. Propex's training program probably did create some successful manual point and click traders but those were several years ago. In terms of long term success a lot of these guys eventually burn out/aren't successful anymore due to change in market conditions etc. Longevity in trading is little to none these days. It was easier years ago but it is not the case today.
