Pros

The work experience looks good on a resume. The majority of the people working there are great people. Your work is not micromanaged on most projects. You can take as much initiative as you want when working on most projects, (don't expect to see monetary compensation for taking on more work or mentoring others though) and (again, for most projects) there isn't a set hierarchy that you're trapped in. New hires sometimes have no education or experience as a business analyst and Protech gives them the opportunity to work as an intern and gain experience that can be used to find a better job later. You're able to take off for appointments and make the time up later the same day or next day without any issue most of the time.

Cons

The pay is so far below the typical market range that Glassdoor won't allow me to submit my salary. The annual raises are insulting and the annual bonus is always $500 and taxed. The workload is frequently unreasonable and usually impossible in the time frame that they want it, and they want constant status updates. When you do good work it is rarely recognized, and the majority of the people working at Protech do not do good work, so those who do will be heavily tasked with fixing everybody else's mistakes. The time constraints and work load often make it impossible to be thorough, and lead to constant stress and poor quality work. Protech is constantly looking for short cuts and all it ever does is create more work. Nobody ever has a clear idea of what the work expectation is and frequently the discussion between coworkers is "what are we supposed to be doing for this assignment and how?" Often times after putting in the work you discover you misunderstood what they were asking for completely. Protech views clients as dumb and unreasonable, and all requests and suggestions from clients are met with a "are we required to give this to them? If so, can we some how give them less and get away with it?" And it leads to tense relationships and a "us against them" environment which just makes the job for a BA unnecessarily difficult at times. To top it all off, the HQ location in LR is in a run down building with roaches, serious water leaks, visible mold, heating and cooling issues, and homeless people that have been found in the building by staff/stolen from staff. Leadership works to hide these issues instead of resolving them properly and it puts everyone there at risk.

Cons

One primary issue that has significantly impacted my experience at the company is the compensation structure. Despite dedicating my efforts and skills diligently, I've found the current remuneration package to be inadequate and not in line with industry standards. The discrepancy between compensation and the rising cost of living has placed considerable financial strain on me and many of my colleagues. Regrettably, this has resulted in personal financial challenges, leading to instances where employees have had to supplement their income with personal funds and, in some cases, incur heavy credit card debts to meet basic needs. Another concern that has affected morale and productivity is the prevailing culture of micro-management within our teams. The lack of autonomy and trust in the abilities of employees to perform their duties has created an atmosphere of unnecessary scrutiny and pressure. This micromanagement not only stifles creativity but also hampers our ability to work efficiently and reach our full potential. Furthermore, I have observed instances where professional ethics seem to be compromised, impacting the overall integrity of our work environment. Upholding professional standards and ethical conduct is crucial for fostering a healthy and respectful workplace culture.
