Cons

Typical start up problems really. Lack of experience in the leadership team. They don't have a good handle on the basics. Very few people outside of leadership are listened to. The company is not remote friendly as there is no culture outside the dublin office. Compensation is poor. You have to fight for a bonus and commission. When they don't want you around any more they freeze you out. They'll leave you out of conversations and decisions. They'll decide you're not performing well and make you feel uncomfortable. When you resign they don't learn from it, they develop a narrative that you're not suited to the company anymore and that the company has outgrown you.

Pros

The client list that Protex has for being a 4 year old company is insane. Dozens and dozens of massive household enterprise clients. Tons of product traction in the enterprise as BigCos not only look for ways to invest in AI but look for ways to keep their employees safe and do so in a cost efficient and truly scalable manner. Just recently raised a large B round so very well funded, with Salesforce Ventures coming on board in the latest round. N$R is through the roof with a product that is perfectly built for a land and expand motion. But what has surprised me the most is the culture the company has. Excellent people that are super smart, that can also be very direct with each other and have hard conversations but can then go grab a pint afterwards. This is a culture that truly does value the individual and Dan/Ciaran are focused on building a lasting company that will allow people to grow their careers for years to come.

Cons

LONG sales cycles that involve a lot of red tape given the types of customers we are selling to. Given that it is such new tech, you really need to be patient and help customers understand how they should even be thinking about rolling out this type of product and measuring success/business value. More challenges than Cons but worth considering specifically if you are looking at sales roles here.

Pros

The two Founders (Dan and Ciaran) are young, but smart and impressive - they have a good vision for where we are going, and we just had a great 2025. We have good benefits for our size. The best thing about Protex is the culture - we have a fun and warm team who get together frequently.

Cons

There are a lot of team and structure changes, as is probably typical for our size. Salary isn't near the top of the market, but if you want to have fun in your job, and ownership to build and learn beyond your core role, that's the trade-off.
