Pros

The best reason to work for Publix is the stock. The stock has increased in value of approximately sixteen percent annually. Even though our economy has taken a beating Publix stock has only deprecated a couple dollars. Employees can save stock at no cost to them. Once you have worked for Publix one full year the give to to you. The rate is about ten percent of your salary. If you have an emergency and need to buy a home Publix will allow you to take the stock out. Free Money. Thats never a bad thing. It is a great addition to the retirement.

Cons

The down sides of working for Publix are the long hours and low income. Publix pays its pharmacist a bout five dollars less than the average other retailers. And unfortunately past stock performance is not guarantee in the future. Although your supervisor will tell you that’s what makes the company the best to work for. And I must agree it dose help. When you start as a pharmacist they give two weeks of vacation. Okay that is average across the board. But wait. Keep waiting. A little longer. Okay you finally made it. At ten YEARs you finally are given your third week of vacation.

Pros

Amazing 401K, free stock after one year of employment, health insurance is very good for part-time employees if only getting it for yourself, management always approves time off requests, hours are always available, will work around school schedules, tuition reimbursement program, will reimburse you for gas for work-related expenses as needed and will put you in a hotel as needed for work-related reasons that are more than 50 miles from your home.

Cons

Not every store is the same, some stores are run better than others, some managers look down upon people with disabilities, and some see people with disabilities the same as someone without disabilities, they are very big about favoritism, you have to work a lot to earn a vacation, the company does not give out sick time and full-time gets the most benefits and is next to impossible to get full-time. Also, you practically have to be a former employee with a clean record or related in some way to a current employee to get a job with the company though Kentucky Publix's don't quite function that way.
