Pros

Flexible working patterns and half days on Fridays

Cons

I joined Purpose with high hopes, inspired by its mission and public facing commitment to social impact. Unfortunately, my experience within the company was the complete opposite of what it claims to stand for. During my time there, I had three different managers, each with a different approach, no consistency, and very little understanding of my role or support for my development. This constant change made it nearly impossible to settle into my responsibilities or grow in any meaningful way. I was eventually left without a team, isolated in my role, and with no clear direction or leadership. What was most upsetting, however, was the way my departure was handled. I was made redundant under a baseless rationale they used a scoring method claimed I did things that were never factual, and it became clear this was not a strategic decision but rather the result of poor internal planning and mismanagement of funds. It was incredibly disheartening to witness excessive, often lavish, spending on non-essentials while staff were being let go under the guise of budget cuts. The lack of accountability and transparency during this period left me in a difficult position both emotionally and professionally. I appealed and even though without success my hearts content on saying how I felt. For a company that claims to operate on ethics, equity, and purpose, the internal culture couldn’t feel more disconnected from those ideals. I hope Purpose takes a serious look inward and begins to treat its people with the care and respect it claims to champion externally. By the looks of things all still remains the same...
