Pros

Q Factor is part of a vertically integrated team to includes design, construction, development, and property management. As well as a number of smaller companies. This provides ample opportunities for working directly with those fields. Working at Q Factor is like diving in head first. It can be a rapid learning opportunity. The project choices for development were very intriguing thanks to the philosophy and direction of the design company Drumbeat.

Cons

Work life balance doe not exist at Q Factor, while they maintain a “Work hard, play hard” attitude. There are underlaying expectations that directly conflict with this. While this field often requires more work outside of business hours at some times, this was never adjusted or compensated for. This company struggles with upward mobility pathways for employees. There is almost no mentorship or feedback to employees. Very infrequent opportunities for recognition, meaningful goal setting, raises ,and promotions. There is a cultural that includes yelling and inappropriate language and name calling, particularly by the CEO that permeates the company. There were empty promises of a diversity and inclusion statement, even as upper tier employees continue openly sharing homophonic and transphobic rhetoric. The “Team of Teams” had a number of toxic employees that were kept on for much too long, even after c-suite members admitted a problem. While other employees were fired quickly without recourse for very little. This created an unpredictable and frustrating environment. Q Factor has a tendency to burn bridges with its partners through unprofessionalism, pride, and secrecy. As an employee this puts you in a difficult position with partners. There were a number of unethical business practices that that severely harmed the company and its partners. Attempts at providing feedback were not welcome and I was treated with noncompliance with an NDA. Aforementioned NDAs were immoral and unenforceable. Promises to revise it were not met.
