Pros

-Long track record of strong returns and great reputation in the industry - certainly one of the top funds in the region - Very sharp group running the investment book, all of whom are ready and willing to share knowledge/experience -Flat organizational structure in which all all investment team members have opportunity to propose and diligence new investment ideas to the PMs/partners -Transparent investment process in which entire investment team is expected to understand and opine on all firm investments in regular investment committee meetings (great learning experience, especially for younger employees) -Dynamic, intellectually stimulating environment in which you will be researching wide variety of topics (certainly not going to be bored at Q!) -Team-based work environment without much politics or ego even among the senior personnel - Very reasonable work hours by hedge fund industry standards -Generally a group of personable, fun people who are pleasant to work with

Cons

- This isn't really a con, but potential employees should understand that Q has a very diligent, hard-working, process-oriented work culture which isn't necessarily for everyone (about which Q is very clear upfront and works hard to vet)

Pros

Q is genuinely a great place to work. The environment is positive, respectful, and free from the yelling or belittling you might find elsewhere. It’s highly collaborative, people don’t compete for deals or try to undermine each other. Instead, everyone works toward the shared goal of improving the firm, which is refreshing compared to workplaces where you have to constantly watch your back. The open-office setup was different from what I was used to, but it ultimately made the experience better. The team is strong, and the layout encourages conversation, learning, and camaraderie. You naturally pick up knowledge from colleagues nearby, and people are always working on interesting projects. If you overhear someone in credit or real estate discussing an investment idea, you’re welcome to ask about it. I learned a lot simply by being surrounded by smart people who were open to sharing.

Cons

The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Leaving early or stepping out for appointments is tightly controlled. This is communicated clearly during the recruiting process, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
