Pros

Relatively well paid. CBD location

Cons

Incompetent senior management from the CEO down. A culture of sycophancy and outright bullying. If you think you’ve been hired to provide your expertise and professional opinion, you’ll very soon discover that this is not only unwelcome but you will be singled out for “special treatment” by HR. I personally know of at least 4 people who were summarily dismissed on completely false or trumped up charges. The Chief of HR is a nasty bully who seems to take a delight in breaking people. He and the CEO (who is a secret smoker but pretends he’s not - go figure) are often huddled together in the back alley, deciding what to do with the latest “troublemaker” aka someone who is just trying to do a good job and bring this archaic organisation into the 21st century. And don’t think the union or the code of conduct will protect you - they won’t. I could go on for ages but life’s too short :) If you’re thinking about taking a job at QSuper - just don’t. You will regret it. But don’t take my word for it - just make a few enquiries and you’ll soon discover that this would be poison for your career, and quite likely psychologically damaging to boot. Just say no.

Pros

Save environment full-off very nice people. If you want to come in, get paid and leave. This is place for you.

Cons

Surrounded by poor performers at all levels from management to subject matter experts. Especially within the IT organization. As someone who likes to learn, achieve and improve in their profession this would be the worst place to work. If you want to take a break from working but get paid, this would be great.

Pros

Flexible arrangements Great colleagues at same level Work completed for the benefit of members (could see the vision of how changes would improves members super/support) Nice workspace/Good facilities Once you're in, it's very easy to stay

Cons

Shift in leadership and management, changing back to a bit of a boys club. My personal experience is was that bullying wasn't viewed as an issue, being called out by senior managers in reply all emails and meetings was acceptable. Lack of effective communication from top down and across departments, you never really know what's going on with the rest of the business. Frontline and operational staff under a lot of pressure to meet targets and implement new ways of working. Can be difficult to develop out of the Contact Centre, they notoriously refuse to release staff for secondments and permanent roles due to 'business needs' (lack of forward planning for staff attrition). Values on paper are great however they are not truly lived or supported in the work environment. They are buzz words that people use to make it appear like they are living the QSuper way.
