Pros

Really nice co-workers who are very intelligent.

Cons

They found a way to end my employment once I told them I was pregnant. My probation was one year. At four months they told me to tell them if I was pregnant or planned to be never mentioning this prior. I became pregnant soon after and two days after I told them they cut my hours to 16 hours a week. I went on medical leave because my doctor thought 16 hours may be hazardous to the baby. Might I add, they wouldn’t tell me the hazards they just kept saying we don’t know. It took them two months to fill out their disability forms and then agreed to give me full time with half being admin work. As soon as I got back they told me I wasn’t performing at the level I should be which I was never informed of once before this. Plus, I was not able to work with the XRD machine which was 80%of my job or perform any of the other training they said they were going to provide me in my offer letter. They said they could let me go if I did not improve in the year. I was nervous so I inquired about any way that I could better demonstrate my skills. I did everything that was told of me and tried to learn as much as I could about what they do. Even in the evenings. They did not even give me admin duties or give me the chance to. Well, maybe one hour every few days. Two months after my return they let me go saying I was not at the right level for my position. They let me go because I was pregnant and could not work with the XRD machine which they wanted me for when they hired me. Plus, they would have to hold my position if I went on maternity leave. They also did not have any intention to train me on a large lists of things they outlined in my offer letter. Do not trust the offer letter! It sounds a lot better then what they train you on. The offer letter also says your probation could be extended by 6 months after a year if not performing good enough. No word of termination after 6 months.

Quantiam Technologies Response
2y
Ex-employee is thanked for their feedback. The following facts are provided in response: 1. Employee was hired as a Research Technologist with a college (2-year) diploma with ZERO experience and into the top quartile of compensation in the Technology sector. The employee new very well that Tech is not O&G. 2. Employee was provided with two (2) promotions over his employment period of ~5 years, reflecting accelerated promotions. 3. Ignoring the exceptional benefits package provided by the company that in most years included a bonus, and the training and opportunity to work at the global leading edge of advanced materials and advanced manufacturing, the employee was provided over the course of his employment as averaged over his employment term, annual merit increases a multiple of market rate. 4. Despite the above, the employee could not get along with nearly all of his supervisors and many of his peers.
