At first, I was asked to do a design challenge for the position I applied to. They compensated me with $200 for 2 technical drawings I made. Afterward, they refused to give me the position they promised unless I did "other work" for them to prove my ability - with no compensation at all. Eventually, I got the position after finishing an extra 3-5 different drawings. Plus they are only willing to offer minimum wage.
The design team is very small and we have to report directly to the owner. She is very busy and does not remember any of the instructions that were given to us. When we were not able to meet her standards/ requests, she accused us of not being competent at our job or not paying attention to the work, etc. Now and then she came to our office to snoop on us secretly (the office it's a very small bedroom in the company’s apartment). She would also talk to you 1-on-1 and question your "passion" for this job if she caught you using your phone.
The level of micro-management and miscommunication is unbelievable in this company. I worked there for only a few months since I was going through career transition, and this is my first design job. If you are interested in applying for any job here, I strongly suggest NOT to. They verbally abuse/ gaslight their employees and treat them unfairly. Save yourself and stay away from them.
