Pros

They have a knack for hiring thoughtful, caring people who approach work with integrity and empathy for the veterans. Outside of leadership, many of the employees are wonderful people I have thoroughly enjoyed working with.

Cons

Leadership is a mess. They rarely communicate clearly, refuse to take ownership when a change they implemented goes south, and only take credit for 'positive' changes. Their big win? They finally gave employees 5 paid holidays a year. What a joke. Leadership has no idea how sustainable businesses function. The entire leadership team is filled with nepotism and favoritism. If you're not personal friends with the CEO, kiss any chance of promotion goodbye. The leadership style is micromanagement and toxic positivity. It is truly one of the most toxic workplaces I have ever experienced. Earlier this year, they announced a directive to suspend internal promotions until they implemented a 'manager' training program. If they're even attempting to work on it, they haven't communicated anything about it since that suspension was implemented. Don't come here looking for upward mobility. Because of this and many more terrible decisions, nearly the entire management staff has left in under a year. If you're in management, be prepared to be expected to be on-call for 12 hours of the day essentially. It's their policy for 'emergencies,' but when asked to define an emergency, they couldn't do it. You will get called after hours for complete nonsense that 100% could wait until the start of the next business day. They don't give you any kind of stipend for internet, cell phone, or hardware, so be prepared to have to do everything on your personal devices. If the thing that draws you to this company is the mission of working with veterans, it's a lie. They no longer prioritize the needs of the veteran. In the time I've worked here, they haven't made a single decision to better the veteran's experience. The timeline for our process has escalated from 12-14 weeks to over 30 in just the past 9 months. Instead of recognizing this issue by listening to the manager, they pushed for growth. Their ultimate solution? To outsource an entire division of the company overseas without clear communication that the veterans' private information is being protected. They don’t even do background checks on staff. For a company so focused on compliance, they aren’t transparent at all in regards to the safety precautions they’re taking for the veteran's information. Those grossly inflated timelines? We’re not even allowed to honestly communicate them with the veterans because it started to ‘affect sales.’ Veterans are mad, and rightfully so. But don’t expect to be given any kind of guidance from leadership in regards to what you can do to help mitigate the frustration of these veterans. Nope, you’ll be thrown to the wolves to be berated without so much as an empathetic thank you from leadership.
