Pros

There is a strong enthusiastic client base

Cons

Unfortunately the lack of business acumen prevents this organization from being efficient. Further, the inability to scale prevents the company from truly providing the "personal touch" they strongly believe in. Overall, this small break-even company induces a high-stress environment with few benefits.

Pros

None. Absolutely terrible work experience.

Cons

Everything. This company is completely dysfunctional and unorganized. We were unable to fill orders due to constant lack of inventory and lack of funding for postage. I was shorted on two of my paychecks and was abruptly let go by the owner, Amanda Howell with no notice and no plausible reason for discontinuing my employment. I was hired as a Social Media and Digital Marketing Manager but quickly realized the job consisted nothing more of following up with customer inquires and complaints, along with updating a newsletter once a week. The owner, Amanda Howell, said she was dedicated to training her team meanwhile she had a back up of follow up forms to complete while she shopped for Sundresses at her desk. Not to mention their "office" is at their dingy apartment in Santa Monica with four desks crammed into a tiny living room. This company is sinking--and fast. My best recommendation is staying far away from here and not believing in any false promises they try to front to you.

I don't want to use your name, because that would not be a good thing, but I do want to say that this review really paints a crazy picture that is not real. First of all you worked here only for a few weeks. The paychecks were not purposefully shorted, and you knew that. It was corrected the day we figured it out. You came as we had a huge surge of business, so you never saw the full inventory that arrived the week you left. The postage issue was one day, caused by a huge increase in shipping volume. We adjusted. If you remember, I spent hours and hours patiently trying to really understand why you could not follow instructions. I would give you something to do and 10 minutes later you would be doing something else. I tried written lists, I tried having the office manager help you along, I then tried the online workflow app Trello. Nothing helped. It was a puzzle because you are not only very bright but also full of dynamic, happy energy. However, you brought an erratic energy into the room. Your mind was constantly jumping. The office manager told me I had to give up. Trying to help you was dramatically cutting into my own work day. I finally knew there was not a solution, also that you would not understand why, but I had to let you go. It hurt me to do it, not only because you needed the job, but because it was my mistake, not yours for hiring you.I understand that you were angry, had just been let go by another employer and were about to move into a new apartment. I guess that is why you lashed out. I get it, but I choose to at least express what I know to be the truth. We live in Santa Monica, California, 10 blocks from the beach. The cost of an apartment here is equal to a house mortgage in another state. Our apartment is not small, it is reasonably large, and it is beautiful, with windows on all four sides letting in the beautiful breeze from the sea. We love working from here. And our employees like being able to use the garden patio or take a walk in the neighborhood for their afternoon break. Our factory is in Las Vegas. It is not in an apartment. You were here a few months ago. Instead of sinking fast we launched our new website in October and have seen a 30% increase in business in just 2 months. The woman who took your place is very happy and doing a great job. Yes, I did take advantage of a huge Macy sale for sundresses. You have a beautiful wardrobe. I think you understand. The truth is I wish you well.
